California Bar Exam Format
The California Bar Exam is a three-day exam. Day 1 and 3 each consist of three essay questions and one performance test. Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam. Essay questions are designed to be answered in one hour.

MPRE
A scaled score of 86 on the MPRE is required for admission.
California Bar Exam Scoring and Results
The MBE is weighted 35% of total score, and the written portions combine to account for 65% of the total score to determine if the applicant has achieved a minimum passing score. Results are released about 12-14 weeks after the February exam and 16-18 weeks after the July exam.

California does not accept MBE scores from other jurisdictions.
California Bar Exam Reciprocity
California does not provide for admission on motion; examination is required of all applicants. Attorneys licensed in another jurisdiction for four years may be eligible to sit for the attorney exam (written exam only).
