South Carolina Bar Exam Format
The South Carolina Bar Exam is a three-day exam. Day 1 and 2 consist of essay questions testing six subject areas. Day 3 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam.

Business Law, Civil Procedure, Commercial Law, Domestic Relations, Equity, Insurance, Wills, Trusts & Estates, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts
MPRE
A scaled score of 77 on the MPRE, achieved no more than four years from the date of application, is required for admission.
South Carolina Bar Exam Scoring and Results
The MBE accounts for 1/7 of the exam, and the essays count for the remaining 6/7. Applicants must pass 6/7 of the entire exam, with a minimum MBE score of 125. The minimum passing score on the essays is 70. A scaled MBE score of 110 or less is an automatic failure. Results are released in late April for the February exam and in late October for the July exam.

South Carolina accepts MBE scores from other jurisdictions, if from a concurrent bar exam.

South Carolina does not provide for admission on motion; examination is required of all applicants. In some situations, a special application may be made by a dean or tenured professor of the University of South Carolina.
