Texas Bar Exam Format
The Texas Bar Exam is a three-day exam. Day 1 consists of one 90-minute Multistate Performance Test (MPT) question and one 90-minute Procedure/Evidence exam. Day 2 is the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE), a 200-question, multiple-choice exam. Day 3 consists of twelve Texas essay questions.

Texas Bar Exam Subjects: Texas subjects (MBE Subjects are in bold)
Short Answer/Objective Subjects (Day 1): Civil Procedure (including Federal & State Jurisdiction, Pleading & Practice), Criminal Procedure, Evidence; Texas Essay Subjects (Day 3): Bankruptcy, Business Associations (Agency, Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs & Professional Associations), Consumer Rights, Family Law, Real Property (including Oil & Gas), Taxation (Income, Estate & Gift), Trusts & Guardianships, U.C.C., Wills & Administration, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Constitutional Law, Evidence, Real Property, and Torts
MPRE
A scaled score of 85 on the MPRE is required for admission.
Texas Bar Exam Scoring and Results
The MBE is weighted 40%, the essays are weighted 40%, the MPT is weighted 10%, and the Procedure/Evidence exam is weighted 40%. The scores are scaled and combined to determine if a passing score of 675 out of a possible 1000 points was achieved. Results are released in early May for the February exam and in early November for the July exam.

Texas Bar Exam MBE Reciprocity
Texas does not accept MBE scores from other jurisdictions.
Texas Bar Exam Reciprocity
In order to be eligible for admission without taking the Texas Bar Exam, the applicant must be an active member of a state bar, in good standing at all times, engaged in the active practice of law for five of the seven years immediately preceding application, and have graduated from an ABA-accredited law school.
